Does the possibility of hooking a Northern Pike thrill you? Do you long to hear the call of the Loon or the distant howl of a Timber Wolf? Are you happiest when you're on the water? If so, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness may be calling your name.
Situated in Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota, the Boundary Waters offers some of the most remote canoeing adventures in the lower 48 states. We meet in Ely, MN at the headquarters of Voyageur North Outfitters to finalize our trip plans before settling in for a good night's sleep in the bunk house. Bright and early the next morning, we travel to Mudro Lake for the start of our journey.
As we travel along the routes used by 18th century trappers, we'll encounter ancient Native American pictographs, navigate the bays of Crooked Lake, explore the famous Table Rock fur trading site, and revel in the breathtaking views. We practice "portaging" between lakes and enjoy roaring campfires in the cool September evenings. And don't forget to bring your rod & reel: Northern, Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, and, just maybe, a Muskie will be daring you to catch them.
