As with all of our trips, before hitting the trail, we will relax at the lodge and enjoy good food, games and the camaraderie of friends around the fireplace. Early the next morning, we'll pack up our gear and begin following a series of valleys that will lead us into some of the most scenic mountains in the Weminuche Wilderness. In the early days the Indians and early explorers used these valleys to cross the mighty San Juan Mountains. These valleys were not only excellent routes, but treasures to behold, as streams churned downward producing an abundance of rapids, waterfalls and secluded pools teeming with fish. The skills of wilderness travel and survival, the pictures of panoramic mountain splendor and wildlife, the fishing and spontaneous discussions around the camp- fire are all components of a wilderness challenge that will generate unforgettable memories. Hopefully your plans can include this challenge for Summer of 2007.
