Over the next five days we'll encounter the many wonders of the San Juan Mountains as can only be done with a backpack. We'll hike through a vast evergreen forest, with intermittent meadows decorated with wildflowers and follow a trail that meanders along a stream that eventually leads to its headwaters, high above the timberline. We'll then hike a portion of the Continental Divide Trail and view one vast mountain range after another, to the east as well as to the west. Descending back into the forest, we'll make our way along yet another beautiful stream that guides our way through gorgeous canyons, past serene lakes and cascading waterfalls to the peaceful valleys and meadows below. Along the way, we'll have a chance to climb one of the many peaks, fish for those delicious trout, learn the skills of map and compass, as well as the possible sighting of moose that reside in this area. It is a complete wilderness challenge you will not want to miss.
